Context

My own product. Enter birth details, or photograph an existing kendaraya, and Kendara builds the sidereal chart, then writes a reading and lets you ask questions about it, in Sinhala, English or Tamil.

The challenge

Reading a Sri Lankan kendaraya means calculating a sidereal chart correctly, including the time zone changes Sri Lanka went through, and then explaining it in the reader's own language.

Decisions

  1. The chart comes from the Swiss Ephemeris with the Lahiri ayanamsa and whole-sign houses.
  2. The historical Sri Lankan time zone is resolved for each birth instant.
  3. A photo of an existing chart can be read by AI into an editable table first.
  4. Readings come from Gemini models behind a fallback chain and an output guard.
  5. Marriage matching reports the checks it cannot compute as unknown rather than guessing them.
